Common Land
22. 10.—4. 11. 2015
The participatory Common Land exhibition event will connect Jesenice, Ljubljana and Reykjavik in October and November. It represents an authentic design practice by Oloop designers. Their focus is directed on – how to design contemporary products by participation of different creative groups or communities. Designer’s work is no longer just the design itself, but also the leadership and support of creative processes in the individuals or in the communities.
Common Land connects authors with culturally mixed group of immigrants from Jesenice and Ljubljana (Fužine). They explore traditional handmade slippers together.
Exhibition event is a part of the one-year lasting project called the Balkan Slippers on the Way to Iceland, led by the Institute Oloop Ljubljana and the Association of Immigrants Up from Jesenice. Their results will be presented in November in Grofin Culture House in Reykjavik. Ambitious project aims is a lively cultural exchange between Slovenia and Iceland in the field of contemporary textile design.
Supporters of the project: City of Ljubljana, EEA and Norway Grants, Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities, Museum of Architecture and Design.
