Together with the design group Oloop – textile designers – we invite anyone interested to join us at workshops and exhibition and experience the magic of the design process, calmness of the creative work, excitement of exploration of urban nature and relaxed socializing. The programme will start with the guided walk through the city centre of Ljubljana, than it will be moved to Fužine and in the museum.

Project City colours is an urban design laboratory. Its multi-layered concept addresses, strengthens and nourishes the different aspects of the individual and the wider community. At the same time it raises important questions about the ecology, values and sense of design, art and craft of our times.

Each city is populated with a unique urban nature, which at first sight provides color record of the city. However, when we came closer and deeper into it, we can be quite surprised. By harvesting plants and parts of trees and with simple processing methods, we reveal a colorful palette of tones, which symbolically represent the original colors of the city and its nature. We will offer to visitors mysterious traveling through the design process, experimenting with natural dyes and meeting the techniques and the materials from which we will create a community collection of useful products.

In the first part of the project we will explore the trees in Ljubljana and collect parts containing dyes suitable for dyeing of textile fibers. In the second part we will move to the Fužine Castle to the Museum of Architecture and Design which will be changed to the laboratory. From the collected materials we will be prepare dyebaths, dye the wool yarn and create a collection of products.
