Exhibitions in MAO
The exhibition MADE IN: STORIES OF CRAFTS AND DESIGN explores the relationship between traditional cultures of making and contemporary design production. Through objects taken from the archives, photographic materials and newly created projects, the exhibition addresses a number of current issues today, like locally sourced materials, encouraging local production, the potential of new technologies in heritage conservation, and the development of new models of collaboration.
[Tunnel 29] Design for the Post-Apocalyptic World is a group exhibition of projects by contemporary Slovenian designers on the future, when our natural environment has been destroyed and we live in Tunnel 29. The projects selected from an open call envisage a dark future, a post-industrial dystopia where life persists in a closely controlled artificial environment filled with DIY furniture made of recycled plastics, wood from invasive plants and salvaged scrap metal, with survivors growing our own food in isolation.
The exhibition AN OBJECT AND A COLLECTION focuses on the relationship between the collection of the Museum of Architecture and Design as a whole and its constituent parts. A selection of objects, projects and documents that have shaped and co-create, still today, our everyday lives, serve as sources of inspiration, ideas, concepts, even provocation. The exhibition is comprised of more than 200 exhibits representing both icons of Slovenian architecture and design as well as transitory products and objects presented to the public for the first time.
