Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) has been appointed as the institution responsible for the Slovenian presentation at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, which will take place between 28 May and 27 November 2016. MAO’s director Matevž Čelik has been appointed the commissioner by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia for the two upcoming editions of the architectural biennial.
The curator of the 15th International Architectural Exhibition is the Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena. The architectural exhibition titled Reporting from the Front will invite participants to explore where and how to place the front line of contemporary architecture. Aravena understands the front lines as the boundaries of the possible and intends to show reports on the battles architects are battling to achieve a higher quality of life for the entire world’s population.
The curators of the presentation of Slovenian architecture, as chosen by commissioner Matevž Čelik, are the internationally renowned architects, curators and educators Tina Gregorič and Aljoša Dekleva. Titled Home@Arsenale, the curators, who will also be exhibiting their work, conceived the concept of residential structures that will operate as a platform for exploring the concepts of home and living during the Exhibition.
