BIO 26 Talks in Milano
9. 4. 2019
BIO 26 Talks will see Thomas Geisler, curator of the 26th Biennial of Design, and assistant curator Aline Lara Rezende and renowned design experts, some of them also former curators of BIO, discuss biennials of design and one of the biggest challenges of our time: information.
Guests: Amelie Klein, Margriet Vollenberg, Jan Boelen, Angela Rui, Maja Vardjan, Vera Sacchetti
Concerned with the widespread crisis in information, the BIO 26 will explore ways in which we can creatively take charge and react to it. The biennial will propose experiments and present alternatives to the ways we currently deal with information.
As an international platform for new approaches in design, BIO functions as a long-term collaborative process, where teams of designers and multidisciplinary agents develop alternatives to established systems. Through an open call, BIO 26 invites designers, architects, scientists and citizens on a sprint journey to revisit the fundamental structures of knowledge production and transmission. The goal is to commission projects to be exhibited in the biennial, to be selected through a designathon process. Six challenges will be proposed by the biennial, together with partnering museums, libraries, universities, and news and media organizations, to rethink their roles in the 21st Century.
