The Timeless Design Award granted to a highly-esteemed glass designer Tihomir Tomić will be celebrated by means of a display case exhibiting his precious glass named after the Biennial of Industrial Design he participated in. The set was awarded an honorary award by the jury.

As one of the most prominent glass designers, Tihomir Tomič started his career at the beginning of the 1970s in the Rogaška Glassmaking School, and continued in 1978 in the Boris Kidrič Glassworks in Rogaška Slatina. Many of Tomić’s glass pieces from this period display aesthetically consistent, geometrically clean and serviceable design (brandy set). At the same time, he begins to use designs characterized by a clear break from pure functionalism and by a distinctive decorative note where the purpose of the object is not strictly defined. Such are his sets of decorative glass dishware “Stackables” which leave it to the user to stack or arrange the series of identical forms into any shape and use them for various purposes.
