rom 3 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, Ljubljana and Koper will host the 29th Biennial of Design, Soft Fields. Bringing together three venues – the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) and Mala galerija Banke Slovenije in Ljubljana, and Cultural Centre Libertas in Koper – the biennial will create a shared space for exhibitions, research, encounters and new forms of collaboration. BIO 29 is curated by Martina Muzi, with Ro Pérez Gayo as Associate Research Curator.
What happens when design moves beyond the boundaries of its own discipline? BIO 29 brings together projects and research at the intersection of design, industry, science and different forms of knowledge. It explores the processes, people and environments that shape our shared world, as well as the possibilities that emerge when different fields and perspectives meet.
Three Venues, One Biennial
The exhibition programme will unfold across three venues in Ljubljana and Koper, accompanied by talks, guided tours, presentations and other events.
The biennial opens on 2 December 2026 at 19:00 at Mala galerija Banke Slovenije, followed by the main opening at MAO on 3 December at 19:00. On 4 December at 18:00, BIO 29 continues at Cultural Centre Libertas in Koper.
Further details about the programme and upcoming events will be announced soon.
