He previously served in the museum as a curator for architecture and a member of the expert group for the inscription of Jo\u017ee Ple\u010dnik&#8217;s work on the UNESCO World Heritage list.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A museum councillor at MAO, Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d (1960), PhD, graduated in 1987 from the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Geodetic Engineering of the Edvard Kardelj University in Ljubljana (currently Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana), under the mentorship of prof. Janez Ko\u017eelj, with a thesis titled <i>The Reconstruction and Densification of the CO 1-21 Residential Island in Ljubljana<\/i>. Having received a scholarship from the French government, he spent the academic year 1989\/90 as <i>l\u2019\u00e9tudiant<\/i>\u00a0<i>libre<\/i> studying painting in the atelier of Professor Vladimir Veli\u010dkovi\u0107 at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris. In late 1997, he received additional training under the programme Sustainable Housing Policy and Management at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development in Rotterdam. He received his PhD\u00a0 in 2000 with a thesis titled <i>(Residential) Architecture Under Market Conditions<\/i>, mentored by prof. dr. Vladimir Brezar. While still a student of architecture, Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d worked together with numerous Slovenian architects and practiced at Studio Vipotnik. After graduation, he worked at Gradbeno Podjetje Grosuplje (a civil construction company), and upon completion of his PhD dissertation, he started working as an independent cultural operator and journalist. He wrote on urban issues for the newspaper Delo (from 2000 to 2005) and published specialist and non-specialist articles on architecture in Slovenian and foreign magazines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d is the author of eight books: <i>Ljubljanski Neboti\u010dnik \u2013 denar in arhitektura\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">[<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ljubljana Skyscraper \u2013 Money and Architecture<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">]<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (Urbanisti\u010dni in\u0161titut Republike Slovenije, 2001),\u00a0<i>Arhitekt Josip Costaperaria in ljubljansko moderno me\u0161\u010danstvo\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">[<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Architect Josip Costaperaria and the Modern Bourgeoisie of Ljubljana<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">]<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (KUD Polis, 2004),\u00a0<i>Usode ljubljanskih stavb in ljudi 1\u201324, 25\u201348, 49\u201372, 73\u201393\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">[<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The Destinies of the Buildings and Citizens of Ljubljana<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">]<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (KUD Polis, 2005\u20132008),\u00a0<i>Ljubljanska in\u017eenirska zbornica 1919\u201344\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">[Ljubljana Chamber of Civil Engineers] <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">(In\u017eenirska zbornica Slovenije, 2013), and\u00a0<i>Ple\u010dnikovi \u0161tudenti in drugi jugoslovanski arhitekti v Le Corbusierovem ateljeju\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">[<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Ple\u010dnik&#8217;s Students and Other Yugoslav Architects in Le Corbusier&#8217;s Atelier<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">]<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> (MAO and KUD Polis, 2017).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Since 2005 Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d has worked as a curator for architecture at the Ljubljana Architectural Museum (AML) which in 2010 became the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO). With his colleagues at the museum he co-authored several exhibitions, among them <i>Opening Up the Storage<\/i> (2011), Under the Same Roof (2013), and Streets and Neighbourhoods: Vladimir Braco Mu\u0161i\u010d and Large-Scale Architecture (2016). Among the exhibitions where Zupan\u010di\u010d is the sole author <i>Ple\u010dnik&#8217;s Students in Le Corbusier&#8217;s Studio<\/i> (2007, 2017, 2019) and <i>The B Course \u2013 Reforming Design<\/i> deserve a special mention as both were also presented abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d is a member of the expert group for the <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">inscription of Jo\u017ee Ple\u010dnik&#8217;s work on the UNESCO World Heritage list. He is a recipient of the 2006 Ple\u010dnik Medal for his architectural writing; he received his second Ple\u010dnik Medal in 2018 for the project Streets and Neighbourhoods, which he co-authored with Luka Skansi, Martina Male\u0161i\u010d, Bo\u0161tjan Botas Kenda and Primo\u017e Fijav\u017e.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Bogo Zupan\u010di\u010d took up the post of director on 1 November 2020.
