The Museum in Community is an exhibition project that we created through a process of cooperation and co-creation between individuals and institutions in the Ljubljana district-neighbourhood of Nove Fužine. With the project, we want to show the power of community when it connects across generations and institutions. Architecture and design, as reflected in everyday life, are entry points for connecting with the community. The museum environment is a place for knowledge exchange and co-creation and represents a safe environment where we can think openly, ask questions, test ideas, exchange experiences, experiment, and debate.

The purpose of the project is to enable accessibility and to foster the inclusion of vulnerable groups as well as intergenerational cooperation toward overcoming societal challenges. With the exhibition we will reach beyond the formal boundaries of the museum and connect the public space between the neighbourhood and the museum. The projects we are creating – a community garden, a natural playground, and a place to socialize in natural surroundings – are meant to remain available to the community beyond the duration of the exhibition.
