Slovenian Design at Budapest Summer Festival
Slovenian Design at Budapest Summer Festival
Exhibition Design Without Borders, on display between 14 June and 28 August at the New Budapest Gallery (Bálna) in Budapest as part of Budapest Summer Festival program, is the result of an independent initiative of two experts in the field, designers Szilvie Szigeti and Tamása Radnóti.
The exhibition will present works by more than 100 designers from 9 countries. In addition to objects designed by artists from the region – the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia – visitors will have an opportunity to see furniture, textiles and objects created by Austrian, German, Romanian, Slovenian and Swiss designers. Alongside mass produced products there will also be pieces manufactured in small quantities and unique creations which interpret genres freely.
Five Slovenian designers will present their works: Katja Burger, Tjaša Bavcon, Jasmina Ferček (Oloop Design), Dejan Pfeifer (Studio Tree), Kristjan Jarni (photographer), Martina Obid Mlakar and Tilen Sepić. The designers were selected among those nominated by the Center for Creativity together with MAO.
During the professional expo day on 15 June 15, head of BIO Maja Šuštaršič will present the oldest design biennial in the world – BIO.
